The 2025 St John's College Rawson and Rosebowl sporting fixtures have kicked off with a fantastic start.
As is tradition, the annual intercollegiate sporting competitions opened with the Rawson cricket competition, with the St John’s XI achieving an equal first place! Captained by Matt Colgan and convened by Liam Grover, this is the first time St John’s has held first place in Rawson cricket since 2013. The team won their first two games against Wesley College and St Andrew’s College, before narrowly losing their third game by 20 runs to St Paul’s College.
Following the cricket, our Rawson Swimming squad won outright first place, marking a memorable night filled with all-time personal bests recorded for many of our swimmers. In addition to the swimming, St John’s claimed both first (Sully Meadows) and second place (Tom Maxey) in the Rawson Diving competition, which contributed valuable points to the swimming total.
We also achieved first and second place in the 50m Freestyle (Caleb Yago and Seb King, respectively), and first place in the 100m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly (both by Caleb Yago), and Individual Medley (Seb King). The team also excelled in the relays, securing first place in the 4x50m Freestyle (Eamon Doyle, Seb King, Rory Pattman, and Caleb Yago) and the Medley Relay (Seb King, Paddy O’Hara, Caleb Yago, and Liam Hill).
This remarkable achievement in both Rawson Swimming and Cricket highlights the dedication, teamwork, and spirit that St John’s College continually fosters. With outstanding performances across a wide range of events, our students have set a high standard of excellence for 2025. We are all incredibly proud of their accomplishments!
