Wherever you’re from deepest regional New South Wales, a major city or overseas, the College is committed to providing you with a welcoming and supportive environment. The strong pastoral care network embedded at College is here for you whenever you need guidance or extra support.

Pastoral Care Team

Led by the Director of Student Life, the College Pastoral Team of staff and senior students ensures there is always someone you can turn to when you need help. Each level of the Pastoral Team has its role to play in supporting you at St John’s.

The Director Student Life has oversight of the welfare and pastoral care of students in College together with a primary role in risk management policies and procedures relating to students.

The Dean of Students facilitates the co-ordination of the residence as a community, with an emphasis on resident wellbeing and pastoral care.

The Associate Dean (Academic) leads the College program of academic matters.

The Associate Dean (Sports & Programs) supports the coordination of sports and cultural events at the College.

The Student Services Assistant manages the Student Services Reception, with a friendly and welcoming response to all enquiries. They co-ordinate all meetings between Student Life Team and Student body.

Sub-Deans oversee the after-hours care of students in conjunction with the Resident Assistants (RAs) and Corridor Representatives (CRs). The Sub-Deans provide emergency care if necessary, help ensure the security of the College and provide back-up support for RAs if required.

Resident Assistants (RAs) and Corridor Representatives (CRs) provide mentoring, guidance and leadership and assist the College in providing the best possible community life for John’s students. Each corridor has its own designated RA or CR who helps students settle into college and university life.
