The College wishes to acknowledge with great sadness the passing of Professor Roslyn Arnold, a former St John’s College Council Member and esteemed educator, who passed peacefully on 11 September 2022 in London after a short illness.

Professor Arnold was the head of the Faculty of Education at both the University of Sydney and the University of Tasmania. She was a frequent guest on broadcasts involving education issues – and was a powerful voice in the community for the advancement of learning for all, regardless of gender, age, race, or background.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Louisa Parker Bowles, and her two granddaughters Poppy and Matilda.

Her funeral took place at St Luke’s Church in Chelsea, on 29 September 2022.
