Most colleges will provide tutorials for units you are struggling with or wish to do well in – but in addition, it’s living with second and third years (or even postgrad students) and being able to seek advice from them that makes St John’s special – How do I handle first year Psychology? What is studying medicine like as a postgraduate student?

The best thing at John’s is the people. Everyone who lives here wants to be here, make friends and do well in their studies. You don’t have to be the best at anything, you just give things a go and everyone celebrates being different, all having different backgrounds, talents and interests. The staff are excellent and super friendly, keeping us safe and providing advice with a smile and a good chat.

St John’s offers a point of difference in terms of successfully providing a balanced environment and a supportive collegiate community in which I can reach my full potential. The College offers the right dynamics to set us up for success at uni, while challenging us to learn and develop both in and out of the classroom.

I believe St John’s is able to foster the development of oneself holistically. So far I’ve been a part of the Lights on the Lawn Committee, sport, Palladian Dance and the Volunteering Committee. Not only is John’s life jam packed to ensure effective use of time but the activities available prove to nurture and spark opportunities to develop and grow not only as a student, but as a person.

I chose St John’s because when I saw it for the first time I felt at home. It reminded me of my high school where the focus was on ‘family’. That is what struck me about John’s – it felt like a big family where I would belong. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and it struck me as a place with a fantastic history that I would be proud to call my home.
