Dr Bernadette Tobin AO

Chair of College Council

Dr Bernadette Tobin is Director of the Plunkett Centre for Ethics, a joint centre of the Australian Catholic University and St Vincent’s & Mater Health Sydney. She is Conjoint Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales and Conjoint Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney. 

Dr Tobin was created an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours List, acknowledged for distinguished service to education and philosophy, to the development of bioethics in Australia as an academic, and as a leader of a range of public health advisory and research councils.

Mrs Michelle Carlin 

 

Michelle Carlin is the Executive Director of Global Student Recruitment & Mobility for the University of Sydney. She leads the division that is responsible for delivering the University’s objectives in relation to the student profile targets; widening participation; student mobility and partnerships for its 60,000 students.

Michelle has led global marketing and sales teams spanning a number of industry sectors including banking and finance. Prior to her current role, Michelle was the Marketing Director at King’s College, London.

Professor Marie Carroll

 

Professor Marie Carroll is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) acting in the capacity of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) at the University of Sydney, with responsibility for oversight of academic strategy in the areas of curriculum, graduate studies, teaching and learning and e-learning.

Sr Giovannni Farquer RSJ

 

Sr Giovanni has been the Director for Ecumenism and Inter-religious Relations, Archdiocese of Sydney since 2003. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Master of Arts, Master of Educational Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy.

Professor James Franklin

 

Professor James Franklin (SJC 1971-74) is Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at UNSW and holds degrees from the University of Sydney and from the University of Warwick.

Very Rev Gerald Gleeson VG

 

Very Rev Gerald Gleeson VG is a Priest of the Archdiocese of Sydney, and Parish Priest at Summer Hill and Director of Mission at Catholic Care, Sydney. Very Rev Gleeson is Associate Professor in Philosophy in the Sydney College of Divinity, teaching at the Catholic Institute of Sydney since 1986. 

Mr Matthew Gordon

 

Mr Matthew Gordon was a student at St John’s from 1982 to 1985 studying Civil Engineering and Law at the University of Sydney. He currently operates a construction and development business.

The Honourable K R Handley AO OStJ 

 

The Hon Ken Handley was appointed to the NSW Court of Appeal in 1990 after a 30 year career at the NSW Bar, including 17 years as a Queen’s Counsel. He retired as a permanent Judge in 2007 but remained as an acting Judge until January 2012.

Mr Joseph Hayes is a foundation Partner of McGrathNicol, an independent advisory firm specialising in Corporate Recovery and Business Advisory services. 

Mr Daniel Hill

 

Mr Daniel Hill (SJC 2002-05) is the Convenor of the University Chaplaincies of the Archdiocese of Sydney, wherein he oversees the pastoral care, formation and evangelisation of students in the four major secular universities in Sydney.

Mr Khan Horne

 

Khan Horne is the General Manager of National Australia Bank’s (NAB) Agribusiness Division and has led the team of 550 bankers since 2007. Khan’s career has been in agribusiness banking since he joined NAB in 1992, as a graduate at Gunnedah in Northern NSW. 

Khan has a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics from the University of Sydney and a Masters in Finance from the University of New England. He is a strong believer in tertiary and post graduate education for agricultural bankers and in his current role recruits circa 50 graduates annually, predominantly with Agricultural / Economic and Commerce degrees.

Mrs Christine McNamee Liddy AO 

 

Mrs Christine Liddy is Past President of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) of Australia (SE Section) and former National Vice-President of the RFDS. She is a Board member of The Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group (GI Cancer Institute), the Gastro-Intestinal Cancer Institute of New Zealand and the UNSW Foundation.

Fr Daniel Meagher

 

Fr Danny Meagher is currently Rector of Good Shepherd Seminary in Sydney. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1995 and has been mainly engaged in parish work in the Archdiocese of Sydney, though he has been involved in various other duties, including that of Director of Mission for CatholicCare. He attended Sydney University from 1980 to 1985, graduating with an Economics Law degree.

Rev Brendan Purcell

 

Rev Brendan Purcell is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Notre Dame and holds degrees in philosophy and theology. Rev Purcell was a senior lecturer for many years at the University College Dublin in the School of Philosophy. He was ordained a Priest for Dublin Diocese in 1967. 

Professor Anthony Shannon AM

 

Emeritus Professor Anthony Shannon was the Master of Warrane College at UNSW for ten years. He holds a first class honours degree and doctorates in pure mathematics (Ph.D), education (Ed.D) and science (D.Sc). 

Rev Paul Stenhouse MSC

 

Rev Paul Stenhouse is a Missionary of the Sacred Heart. He is a member of the Council of the Société d’Études Samaritaines within the College de France and the author of numerous monographs on Middle Arabic Grammar, and various aspects of Samaritan and Falasha history, chronology and religion. He has a PhD from Sydney University. 

Rev Anthony Walsh OP

 

Rev Anthony Walsh OP is a Priest belonging to the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) and has served in a number of roles within the Dominican Order and the Church including Formation, Chaplaincies, Parish Ministry and administrative positions. Rev Anthony has served on a number of Boards of Catholic Schools in South Australia and Victoria. He is currently Parish Priest of the Parishes of St. Bede’s Pyrmont and St. James’ Forest Lodge.

Very Rev Peter Williams VG

 

Very Rev Peter G Williams is currently Administrator of the Diocese of Parramatta, and for eleven years was Executive Secretary of the Bishops Commission for Liturgy for the ACBC. He was Director of Liturgy for World Youth Day in Sydney in 2008.
