St John’s College is delighted to confirm that tickets are on sale for the 2018 Laffo’s Long Lunch.
Don’t miss what will truly be a unique and entertaining afternoon in the lead up to the Wallabies v Ireland in celebration of Matt Laffan and the Scholarship that bears his name at St John’s College.
The event details are follows:
When: 12:30pm, Thursday 21st June, 2018
Where: Doltone House at Tattersall’s Club – 181 Elizabeth St, Sydney
Cost: $150 per person – Guests are organised in tables of 10
Dress code: Lounge suit
What it is: A luncheon acting as the main fund-raiser for the Matt Laffan Scholarship The luncheon consists of a three course meal plus musical entertainment and auctions
Timings: Meal service itself usually takes about 90 minutes Afterwards, guests often adjourn to the club bar until the early evening
Patronage: The 2017 lunch saw 300 guests in attendance and raised approximately $35 000
Matt was a talented lawyer with the Department of Public Prosecutions, tireless campaigner for those with disabilities, Sydney Lord Mayor aspirant and a proud and loyal Johnsmen. He lived his 38 years with a severe disability called diastrophic displasia. While Matt was confined to a wheelchair he never let his disabilities get in his way. St John’s College provided many unique and enriching experiences for Matt where he made countless lifelong friends.
Matt’s obituary, written by Former Wallaby and author Peter FitzSimons, provides testament of what a remarkable man he was.
2018 marks the tenth Laffo’s Long Lunch and the collective proceeds from these annual events have supported three young people with disabilities attend St John’s College.
